Palestinian response to Gaza withdrawal: More Violence

Instead of seizing the opportunity to pursue peace and normalisation, the Palestinians responded to Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza by launching even more attacks against the Israeli State. This mainly took the form of firing Qassam rockets at Israeli population centres, most notably the town of Sderot. 401 rockets were fired in 2005. In 2006, that number more than quadrupled to 1726. By the end of January 2008, the number had exceeded 4000. [Attachment]: Three Views on Gaza Rocket Attacks
