Uncover the Truth

Jewish Refugees

Israel has been a haven for millions of Jewish refugees from Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and elsewhere in the world. These include nearly 900 000 Jews from Arab countries, who were forced by persecution and discrimination to leave their birthplaces in the years following Israel's independence. They arrived destitute after their property was confiscated in their countries of origin, and for which they have never received compensation. One of Israel’s greatest achievements has been to successfully absorb these and other refugees despite the enormous economic, cultural and social challenges involved.
