Fair Purchase not 'Robbery'
It is not true that the Zionist influx displaced a stable, settled Palestinian-Arab-Muslim population that lived in villages and had worked the land for centuries. This claim is inconsistent with contemporary demographic data. An 1882 Ottoman Empire census showed only 141,000 Muslims, both Arab and non-Arab, living in the area. Many of these had only arrived earlier that same century. The Arab population grew rapidly after 1900 in part because of Arab immigration but also because of increased life expectancy through improved health care.
