The Spiritual Heartland of Judaism
In Judaism, Eretz Yisrael - the Land of Israel - is much more than just a geographical entity. It is in every sense the Holy Land, whose intrinsic sanctity exerts a profound influence on Jewish religious law, rituals and customs. Agriculture, festivals, charity and tithing and the judicial system are all areas in which land-related laws are a crucial component. For religious Jews, the fullest possible expression of one’s adherence to the precepts of their ancient Jewish faith can only take place in Israel.
